MARNYS® Bergamot Essential Oil contains the chemotypes: d-limonene, linalyl acetate, linalool. Its colour and appearance range from light yellow to greenish-yellow or dark yellow, and it’s got a characteristic flavour and a deeply citrus scent, properties that favour food taste.

MARNYS® Bergamot Essential Oil is a food-grade oil and is considered very helpful in the confectionery field due to its usefulness for preparing sherbets and ice creams. Bergamot is the common name of Citrus bergamia, a plant belonging to the family Rutaceae (subfamily Esperidea). The trees show large, oval dark green leaves similar to those of lemon tree, with star-shaped, white flowers and gritty yellow fruits. It may be native to the Calabria region (Italy) and the word ‘bergamot’ seems to derive from Berga, the Spanish town from where the plant was later transported to Calabria (Southern Italy).

Citrus bergamia or Bergamot is defined as a hybrid of orange (C. aurantium) and lemon (C. limon). Bergamot is mainly used because of its essential oils, extracted by grating and cold-pressing the fruit peel. Bergamot Essential Oil is widely used in the perfume, cosmetic, food (used for the aroma and flavour of Lady Grey tea) and confectionery industries due its intense fragrance and freshness. It is included in the official pharmacopoeias of several countries.

HOW TO USE

Always dilute one to two drops in 250 g of food or drink (juice, herbal tea, salad, etc.). Maximum three times a day.
